The TPS61378-Q1 is a fully-integrated synchronous
boost converter with load disconnect function
integrated. The device is suitable as a post-boost for
automotive applications with a programmable current
limit up to 4.8-A and maximum 18.5 V output voltage.
It supports an input voltage from 2.3 V to 14 V and
25-μA low quiescent current.
The TPS61378-Q1 employs the peak current-mode
control with the switching frequency programmable
from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz. In medium to heavy load,
the TPS61378-Q1 works in fixed frequency PWM
operation with the frequency set by an external
resistor. In light load, the TPS61378-Q1 offers two
optional modes: Auto PFM or Forced PWM which is
configured by the mode pin externally. In Auto PFM
mode, the switching frequency is lowered at light load
to improve the efficiency. In Forced PWM mode, the
switching frequency is kept constant across the entire
load range. The switching frequency can be
synchronized to an external clock.
